This three-day course combines basic imaging theory, digital imaging system design, hands-on computer imaging, lessons in Adobe Photoshop, an introduction to image enhancement, image management, digital photography, legal issues, and courtroom testimony. Approximately two-thirds of the class time will be spent in hands-on practical exercises with each student having their own computer. Exercises include crime scene photos, photo line-ups, court displays, videotape images, fingerprints, etc. Students will work with contrast and density corrections, image enhancements, creation of court displays, and more. Although this is a fast-paced class, it is designed for the early user of digital imaging. However,
students are expected to be familiar with basic computer functions. If your agency is using digital imaging, but you think there must be better ways of doing things, then this is the class for you. If your agency is considering purchasing digital equipment, this class is a must. And if you think digital imaging will lose out to court objections and low resolution images, this class should be required!
