Examination of Tire and Tire Track Evidence
This is a 5-day course for forensic examiners who must examine tire and tire track evidence and testify to their findings. It covers all aspects of both tire tread and tire track evidence, including basic information regarding tires, tire molds, and tire manufacturing, tire retreading, dual-tired vehicles, special crime scene recovery considerations, methods of taking known exemplars of tires, the comparison process, evaluation of class and identifying characteristics, and report writing.

The course also includes several hours on the explanation of tire manufacturing techniques and retreading and their usefulness in the examination process. It explains and teaches basic evaluation of tire track and tire tread evidence and is designed for laboratory examiners who will be examining such evidence and who also must provide written reports and expert testimony of their results.

The course includes numerous hands-on practical exercises (cases) which will be worked by each student. These will be critiqued and discussed. Numerous case examples will also be presented throughout the week.

The course is designed to be beneficial for all levels of experience of tire and tire track examiners.
