Clandestine Drug Lab Investigation
This 2-day, 16-hour class is designed for field investigators with no formal background in chemistry. It covers the entire clan lab investigation, including intelligence operations, takedown, processing, and sampling. A survey of the various types of clandestine drug manufacturing trends in the United States will be given. Preparation and presentation of evidence in court will also be discussed.

Specific topics and lecture segments include: Chemistry for the non-chemist, intelligence operations, proper techniques to safely shut down an operating clan lab, trends in illicit drug manufacture, chemical sampling procedures, latent print processing at clan lab sites, hazardous materials safety considerations, court exhibit preparation, and courtroom testimony. Both slides and videotapes of several actual clan lab operations and takedowns will be used to demonstrate specific points.

No prior experience in either the investigation or the processing of clandestine drug labs is required and no formal training in chemistry is necessary in preparation for taking this class.
